Biaxial Geogrids

G.TEX expertly manufactures Biaxial Geogrids, which are specifically designed for the stabilization and reinforcement of soil, using different grades of Polypropylene (PP) through an extrusion and stretching method that yields Geogrids with highly increased tensile properties in both machine and transverse directions.

This manufacturing process produces a unique grid structure, consisting of high strength junctions and stiff ribs. When installed in the soil, the interlocking of the aggregate within the apertures of the Geogrid allows for the effective reinforcement of the soil. This interlock mechanism helps control lateral movement of aggregate particles, so that a very high effective angle of shearing resistance is achieved.

The result is a high level of confinement in this layer of aggregate particles that have been reinforced by Biaxial Geogrids.

These features improve performance by:

  • Creating a stiffer aggregate layer

  • Reducing the vertical stress; and

  • Improving the load distribution generated by the overlying structure.

By reinforcing and confining fill materials and distributing load forces, Biaxial Geogrids improve the structural integrity of building foundations, roads, railways, berms, dikes, earth walls and slopes that previously required the use of expensive over-excavating or piling methods on weak subgrades. Biaxial Geogrids are therefore the answer for designers, developers and contractors facing the challenges posed by sloping ground and soft subgrades.
