Engineering Backfill Reinforcement
Engineering backfill over weak soil and under foundations of structures can be reinforced using one layer of G.Tex biaxial Geogrids or more. When one layer is found adequate, it should be placed at the interface between the excavated or leveled surface and the engineering backfill.
The main benefit of placing G.Tex biaxial Geogrids at that level is to achieve a relatively good compaction for the first backfill layer that will be placed on the Geogrid. This stiff layer of reinforced soil will act as a restraining surface to the subsequent fill layers as they are placed and compacted.
